My very good friend Andrew Cowie has opened as a Canadian Red Cross Training Partner in Parksville British Columbia on Vancouver Island. This is exciting because of the incredible background this man brings with him! Andy has been teaching Red Cross courses since 1978. In 1989 Andy taught the original First Responder program under the Justice Institute, and also the Survival First Aid for WCB on the Island.
In later years Andy became a instructor for the BC Primary Care Paramedic program as well as the Emergency Driving program for BC Ambulance Service. In 2008 he became appointed as examiner for the EMA Licensing Board which is the organization responsible for licensing of Paramedics in BC.
Andy has been with the BC Ambulance Service since 1982, and has served in Mill Bay, Parksville, as a Part time employee, then in 1997 was hired Full Time, and transferred to Vancouver, Victoria, Sidney, and is now back in Parksville.
In 2012 Andy decided to pursue a long time dream of teaching for his own company. “Star of Life Emergency Training“ was born and he loves to train businesses and the general public in life saving first aid and CPR skills. He also works closely with area Health Care Professionals (Physicians, RN’s and other Emergency Services personnel, in meeting their needs with First Aid/CPR and emergency medical training, at all levels.
This is not a solicited promotion in any way. I’m posting this blog article because I believe that people living on the island need to know about Star of Life Emergency Training. If you’re looking for training in the Parksville area or anywhere on Vancouver Island, I give my highest recommendation! If you take one course from Andy you will understand why, this man was born to teach and pass on his passion!
